Four plays from “Five Modern Noh Plays”
by Yukio Mishima were performed in March this year.
Two of them will be performed this time.
These plays will portray the true nature of human beings
from the opposite viewpoints of morals and ethics.
BIRD Theatre Company performed four plays from “Five Modern Noh Plays” by Yukio Mishima in March this year, which were very well received. From among these four, “The Lady Aoi” and “Hanjo” will be performed this time. “The Lady Aoi” is based on the “Aoi” chapter of “The Tale of Genji”, and “Hanjo” has its roots in China. Mishima sublimated them into the aesthetic world with the theme of the inner suffering of modern people. Please enjoy both complicated pain and beauty. These plays will be performed in China and France after the festival.
