JIYU Gekijo-Freedom Theatre [from Tottori, Japan]

JIYU Gekijo-Freedom Theatre will explore the themes of “power” and “battle” through “the Tragedy of Macbeth” by William Shakespeare this year. It is needless to say that people with disabilities do have a desire for power and social advance-ment. When we were trying to look at this desire buried deep inside of our mind through theatre performance, we came across the script of “Haiyaku (Casting)” by Tomoyuki Nagayama, a playwright in Miyazaki. This encounter helped us a lot ex-pand the world view of this work. Freedom Theatre embarks on exploring the theme of freedom. It is our first performance of this new piece.
